MOTORISTS HELD UP.
NEW EAST COAST ROAD. SUPS AND HIGH RIVERS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) OPOTIKI, this day. A number of motor cars are reported to be isolated /on' the new East Coast scenic road between Te Kaha and the unmefalled portion of the road near Cape Runaway. Parties who have got through have been compelled to remove slips themselves. Some parties are short of food, bread being about the only thing obtainable. Some have abandoned their cars temporarily and are returning home by other means. Late this afternoon the weather became worse, and the rivers are expected to rise rapidly.
