SKID IN LOOSE METAL.
MOTOR LORRY OVER BANK. (By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, Tuesday. In endeavouring to take a sharp bend near the Opouriao Bridge last night a motor lorry carrying six natives, and driven by Mr. Rubin Metera, of Poroporo, skidded in loose metal and somersaulted over a bank. ■ A Maori woman, Mrs. Hernia, aged 60, suffered head injuries and bruises, and was admitted to the Whakatana Hospital. Three other occupants of the vehicle suffered abrasions and shock. LUOKT ESCAPE. /. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent;) ; OTOROHANGA, Tuesday. A car being driven northward along j the main," Auckland-Wellington highway by Mr. Harry Gore, of Wellington, who had with him five passengers,' and a meat delivery van, owned * and driven by Mr. Allerby, a butcher, of Hangatiki, and also containing five passengers, were involved in a violent collision at Otorohanga. Both vehicles were badly damaged, the car going over a bank by the roadaide. The 12 occupapts of the vehicles [were exceedingly fortunate in escaping 'serious injury.
