DIVORCE LAWS.
Divorce cases are becoming very numerous, although divorce costs are high. Although marriage is regarded as sacred, it appears to be that divorce is the only logical solution to release unhappy couples. If divorce is a necescessary requirement to end unhappy marriage contracts, why does not the Labour Government make divorce easier and costs lighter? Many couples marry whose natures, ambitions, and desires in life are as far apart as the poles, hence the - number of divorce cases. Divorce is simply the natural outcome of such marriages. Many such couples cannot afford divorce costs, many separate and the man is bound by law to pay maintenance, when the woman is the cause of such separation. In many cases, although marriage is regarded as sacred, women regard husbands as a means of support, for food, clothing and for the means to pay for pictures and entertainment. The rearing of children is a relic of bygone days, and should a husband revolt against marriage because it is not what it should be, and agree to separate, he is threatened with gaol if he refuses to pay maintenance to keep such a wife in idleness. Then, again, many women have drunken husbands, gamblers and wasters; is marriage a sacred thing under such, conditions? Divorce costs should be a mere song for such people. No maintenance should have to be paid by any man, whose wife is the proved cause of an unhappy marriage. In such cases, the man should support his children only. There are thousands of women separated from hard-working husbands, and living in idleness on separation allowances, because they preferred dress and pleasure to making a success of marriage. HAD SOME.
