HALLS FOR WORKMEN.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WANGANUI, this day. The Public Works Department is about to commence the erection of two social halls for workmen, one on the Parapara road, and another at the railway deviation at Fordell. The hall on the Parapara road at Otoko will be G3ft by 30ft, and will contain a social room in which it is proposed to screen pictures, a billiard room with two tables, a library and post office facilities. The building at Fordell will be 104 ft by 37ft, containing a social hall, a reading room, a billiard room for two tables, and a canteen, and will also have a small stage. There are now over 100 men on the deviation work, with more to follow this week and next.
