A GARDEN PARTY.
Flowering shrubs and gorgeous spring flowers made a delightful setting for a party of the Mangere branch of the W.D.F.U., held in "The Acre," Miss Manktelow's beautiful old world garden, last week. The 120 guests represented members from Auckland, C'levedon, Takanini, Otaliuhu and Weymouth Women's Institutes branches. Distinguished guests were Mrs. Alfred Watts, founder of the Women's Institutes in Britain and president and founder of the Association of Countrywomen cf the World; Mrs. Dean, Dominion president Women's Institutes; and \lis. Noel Adams, president Waitemata provincial executive W.D.F.U., who were welcomed and introduced by Mrs. Len. Jones, president of the Mangere branch. Two quaint figures in costumes of a hundred years ago gave an old-fashioned dance on the lawn. A novel competition with hidden numbers resulted in several guests- winning prizes.
