THREE PER CENT LOANS.
MONEY FOR HOUSING. An announcement that the Government had decided in connection with its proposals, to make loans available to local authorities ,at 3 per cent per annum for periods to be arranged} was made by the Hon'. Walter Nash, Minister of Finance and Marketing, yesterday afternoon. In addition to granting the loans, Mr. Nash stated that the Housing Depart rnent, "under the charge of Mr. J. A. Lee, was working out details of a scheme that would ensure that every possible facility was available to the local authorities undertaking the schemes, so as to enable them to obtain full advantage of the Government's proposals. ■ A further statement in regard to this ma.tteiy he added, would be issued by Mr. Lee at an early date. The sum to be made available to local authorities for housing during the next twelve months was £1,500,000.
