TE RAPA TRIALS.

PENZANCE'S SMART EFFORT. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") HAMILTON, this day. The going on the course proper, with the poles about. 15ft out, was in good order at Te Rapa this morning, when a number of local candidates for the Auckland meeting were galloped. Owing to most of the horses racing at the Te Rapa meeting, and not requiring fast work, the programme was a restricted one. Before breakfast a fog hindered operations, and those horses that put in an appearance before that interval were not timed. Prince Acre and Lion Heart hit out boldly over a round, the former finishing in front. They did their work well. Mangukaha reached the half-mile peg in 51 Vis, the first three furlongs taking 36 2-ss. Lornacre, accompanied by Royal Mistake over first five furlongs, ran six in 1.21, the half-mile occupying 54V&S, and the five in 1.8. The two-year-old Trilliareh was too good for Raceline and an unnamed Surveyor colt over three furlongs in 36 2-ffs.. The best effort of the morning was that of Penzance, who finished ahead of Capp.v and Trouvaille at the completion of half a mile in 50 4-ss, the first three taking 365. Penzance appears to be thriving on her preparation.
