Miss Jean Batten has arrived at Lympne in readiness for her flight to New Zealand. She said: "I want to start in the morning but the weather forecast shows that the barometer is falling heavily in southern Europe. I shall have another report at 3 a.m. "I intend to make the first stop at Marseilles, where I will take on a full load of petrol of 155 gallons. "I hope to halve my Australia# record. I shall wear my lucky New Zealand flag as a muffler as I have done on all the flights." CRASH FROM 100 FT. VICTORIAN GLIDER FATALITY. (Received 12 noon.) MELBOURNE, this day. Norman McKenzie, aged 20, was killed instantly when his glider crashed at Murray Downs aerodrome from a height of 100 ft. LOST DUTCH AIRMEN. 'PLANE SEARCH SUCCEEDS. PERTH, October 4. Messrs. W. Rous and H. van Beekman, the Dutch aviators who had been missing since Wednesday, were located to-day from the air 120 miles southeast of Kalgoorlie. They informed the airman who landed beside them that they became lost and were forced down by lack of petrol. Assistance is beinjr sent to'enable them to take off.
The airmen were making a tour of Australia for a holiday.
