EMPIRE DEFENCE.
ORPHANS' CLUB ADDRESS. The view that the British Empire should not rely on the League of Nations for its defence, but should make its own defence adequate to ensure peace, was expressed by Sir George Richardson, in an address to the Auckland Orphans' Club on Saturday night. Support, however, should continue to be given to the League because of the good work it was doing in trying to promote a better understanding among the nations of the world.
