""' s °P en higleside of t 10 Otahuhu Caledonian Society, held in tho Public Hall, was an outstanding success and was easily the best that liirn . conimittee has staged. Nearly three hundred members and friends were in attendance, including visitors from Onehunga., Sandringliam, New Lvnn and To Arolia Clubs. The hostesses for the evening were Mrs. J. M. Deas and Mrs. Jas. Melvor. In the absence of Piper R. A. Archibald, the visitinclub representatives, together with the patron, Mr. C. R. Petrie, M.P., and Chief J. M. Deas were piped in by Mr. J. Cowper.
The whole of the stage front presented a nice effect with a profusion of arum lilies and spring flowers and a. lai go Scottish Standard suspended from the ceiling. Every item in an excellent programme was well received, and included solos by Mrs. R. Ellis, Mrs. Mclntyre playing the accompaniments. Miss Mavis AVard received ovations for her National and tap dances, and little Ken Ward displayed much skill in his National and s . character dances, the piping accompaniments being played bv Mr. J. Cowper and Miss Ward". Gianny of IZM, who was accompanied by "Pamela," gave a short and interesting address. A feature of the evening was the excellent band music played by Messrs. J. Allan, R. Jack, and A. Millar, who also played for a series of dances, the masters of ceremonies being Messrs. R. Watson and H. E. Jeffries. Supper was served under the direction of the ladies' committee, in conjunction with Mesdames H. AVeir, J. Grenall and Jas. Melvor.
