ANNUAL DANCE
KENTISH ASSOCIATION.
MANY GUESTS PRESENT,
The annual dinner of the association of Men of Kent and Kentish Men, Auckland branch, was held on Saturday evening at the Waverley Hotel. Special decorations consisted of red, white and blue streamers, and the Union Jack behind the official table. The members were received by the president, Mr. W. Lano (who also presided), Mrs. Lane and the hon. secretary, Mrs. P. C. Webster. There were 86 members present. Special guests were Mrs. Alfred Watt, M.A., M.B.E. (England), president of Associated Country. Women of the World; Professor E. P. Worley, chairman of the Council of the Royal Empire Society, Auckland branch; Mrs. J. T. P. Mitchell, vice-president of the Overseas League (Auckland branch), and Mr. Mitchell and Miss Betty Smart, Canada. The toast of "The King" was proposed by Mr. G. Baker, vice-president. "The Association" was proposed by Mrs. P. C. Webster, who stated that Kentish people in Auckland had a direct link with the county through their membership in the association which was affiliated to the Home Association, of which the Duke and Duchess of Kent wei e patron and patroness. Professor Worley, in reply, said that associations such as this would do much to keep alive the spirit and association of the Old Country and forward the interest of- the Empire. present. He also gave a message of good wishes from the branch patron. Sir Frederic Lang. The toast of "The Visitors" was proposed by Mr. J. W. Jcnks, vice-president, who referred to the good work the official guests were doing in connection with the furtherance of goodwill amongst people of the Empire. Mr. G. Baker was master of ceremonies. Mrs. Eady Payne and -Mrs. W. Arnold eupplied the dance music. Songs were given by Miss Gladys arton and Mr. E.
