WORKERS AND UNIONS.
The other evening I attended a talk on "Trade Unions." Thirty persons were present, and they knew more about the subject than did the speakers, especially about present conditions. There is certainly a lack of interest by the workers, the reason being, in my opinion, lack of confidence in the officials. Why not make a clean sweep and have one large workers' union, each trade to be represented by one worker chosen by the workers? The money paid into the "big union" should be used to better the conditions of the workers, not'the 400 odd officials. Should there be a change of Government the union would be large enough to hold its own against all comers, and not go ont as the unions did before. YOUNGSTER.
