W.C.T.U.

MOUNT ALBERT. The Mount Albert W.C.T.U. held its annual pay-up social on Thursday. After the business part of the meeting the time was passed in social chat, and Mrs. Harvey rendered several songs.

ONEHUNGA. The Onehunga W.C.T.U. met in the Methodist schoolroom on Thursday. Mesdames Petchell and Stacey were elected delegates to the coming district convention and Mrs. Smith to help in the W.C.T.U. jumble sale. At the close of the business the Rev. Stanton gave a splendid account of some of the women in Japan, Korea and China that he had known during his missionary work in those places. Two new members were received. SCOTTISH WOMEN. A large gathering of members _ and friends attended the usual fortnightly meeting of the Y.W.C'.A. Scottish Women's Club last evening. Mrs. Helen Griffiths presided, and congratulated the club on its steady growth. Mrs. Henderson Will gave a talk on Scottish cooking. A musical programme included songs by Misses McKenzie, Copper, Nancy Newman, Doris Webb; pianoforte trio by Misses Lillian Braitlnvaite, Lillian Alien and Louie Hansen; Scottish dialogue by Mrs. R. Robb and Mrs. A. Appleby. The hostesses were Mrs. Young, Mrs. Lees and Miss Barr. NORTHCOTE. A meeting of the above branch was held, at Mrs. Allely's , home, Queen Street, Mrs. Huibert presiding. It was the fourth birthday of the branch. Miss Read, vice-president of the Auckland executive, gave an address, and received a bouquet from Mrs. Allely. The president was also presented with a bouquet. , Miss Harley sang a solo. Reference was made to the deaths of three friends, Mrs. Morrison, Mrs. J. Cook and Miss Griffiths. A birthday cake was presented by the Mayoress, Mrs. Martin, who was present. This was cut by the president. A competition was won by Mrs. Martin. WEST COASTERS' SOCIAL.

The regular monthly social and dance of the West Coasters' (South Island) Association was held on Wednesday evening in the Druids' Rail, North Street, Newton, when a large gathering of members and friends assembled. Streamers and balloons were distributed and two Monte Carlos were held, the winners being Mrs. E. Davis and Mr, E. T. Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. Jordan.
