CLARION CALL PLEASES. HIGH. SPEED AND FOREST GLOW. : r (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Some jumpers gave extra interest to the work at Riccarton this morning. Half a dozen horses started for a round of the Grand National course, but it was a mixed display, one of them, Parasang having to be destroyed after breaking his' leg.

Forest Glow (W. -T. McDowell), Hisii Speed (V. Langford), Xocturnus (C, Q Humphries), Cock o' the North "(Ji" Reilly), Parasang (N. Trillo), and Burglar (E. lXwlandes) started oil' from the ninefurlong barrier for a round of the Grand National fences. All went well over the sodwalls ami the post and rails, but Cock o' the North refused at the first of the Kennels double, while Xosturnus jumped it badly, and fell at the second leg. Cock o' the North was tried several times at the Kennels double, hut without success. Forest Glow and High Speed went on from 'Burglar and Parasang, all jumping well till they reached Cutts' fence. The first-named three cleared it all right, but Parasang ran into the fence and stopped. Parasang had broken his near foreleg, the mishap having occurred about twentv yards before he reached the fence, probably through knuckling over, and he had to be destroyed. N. Trillo, rider of Parasang, was thrown. He was carried to the trainers' room, but after;being examined he was found to have escaped with a shaking, and he was able to - walk off the course a little later. Forest Glow and High Speed pleased by their jumping displays, while the hunter Burglar also went very well. '

Royston (R. K. Smith) jumped once round the schooling fences. He took off a trifle too far at the 'first, though he got over safely, while he gave a fine display over the other obstacles.

Fiord (J. Murfitt) went well over four hurdles. ." '?i

Clarion Call (A. Jenkins) jumped six hurdles. He strode along at *a' sound pace, and gave a good exhibition.

Redolent. (F. K. Baker) gave an attractive display over four .hurdles.

If. B. Edwards came from Yaldhurst with I'onty and Witio, and they sprinted half a mile up the back in 50 2-ss. It is intended to start both in the Winter Cup. Polydora and Latitude ran a mile and a quarter in 2.20.

Southdown and Brevity sprinted half a mile in 5'2..5, time which was equalled by Cyclonic, alone, Hororata, and .Jed Forest.

Thermidor, Recollection, Sir Hugh, and Orange Bud went well over five furlongs in 1.5, Palmyra, Rousseau, and Madam Pompadour taking 1.20 4-5 for Six. Royal Limond and Patron--did threequarter pacc work over a mile and a quarter.

Rival Shot ran six furlongs, Top Notch accompanying liiin over the la&t half mile in 535.

Orris and Sovereign Lady were on terms at the end of seven furlongs in 1.35.

Cleaner had Heather Land as a mate for Half a mile up the back in 545. '

Fair Weather reeled off six furlongs in 1.17 2-5, Epic going with him for tlie last four, which took 525. Fair Weather, with Knockfin, sprinted half a mile up the back in 525.

Concertpitch and Cranford were on terms after seven furlongs in 1.33 2-5, the last four taking 555. i

Billy Boy and Tlmrina were given etrong work over a mile, while Diamond strode out freely on" the eancl.- '/ "f, Roria Bay and Rra w Ladi'an six furlongs in 1.10 3-5. Golden Dart, Queen of Song, and Boomerang were in that order, at tlie end of seven furlongs in 1.33 1-5, the last four in 53 l-ss. < '» Bay Duke and Greek Gold went well over five furlongs in 1.5 3-5. Emissary and Gaysome took 52 l-as for half a mile up the back. Lady Kate and Arrowglen ran half a mile in 53 l-ss, Rose of Tralee and Davolo taking 54 3-ss. Honour's Lass and Gold Cross did the last six furlongs of their work in 1.20, Polygraph and Courtyard taking 1.19. Great Star, brought home by Radio Star, took 55s for the last four of six furlongs, and Lady Granpol ran seven furlongs in 1.34 3-5.

The following horses -arrived from the north this morning to fulfil engagements next week: Travelling Agent, Adalene, John Charles and Lord Hereford.
