MISSIONER FAREWELLED.
TO STUDY IN AUSTRALIA. ) An extremely happy and pleasant function took place at the Airedale Street Methodist Central Mission last night, when the Rev. and Mrs. Eveiill Orr were farewelled before they leave by the Mariposa on Friday for Australia. Mr. Orr is to investigate mission work in Australia, and he made it plain that his sojourn there would not be a holiday but a period of study to prepare him for the work lie intends to do here on his return. The presentation of an envelope was made to Mr. Orr in the course of the evening. Numerous musical items and recitations were given. In a farewell address Mr. Orr outlined an ambitious : building plan, which provides for the erection of a liall at a cost of over £20,000, a Maori chapel and a hostel" in the heart of the city. The meeting closed with supper and the singing of "Auld Lang Syne."
