ASSAULT AFTER DANCE.
YOUNG MAN CONVICTED.

PUKEKOHE, Wednesday. "Drink appeared to be this young man's trouble," stated Sergeant J. T. Cowan in the Pukekolie Court 'before Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., to-day; -when Steve Crowley was charged with assaulting another young man at Pukekolie on, the night of August 1. The accused pleaded guilty. , : v Sergeant Cowan said that the trouble occurred outside a dance hall after a dance. A young man had arranged to take a girl home, but after the dance the accused hs<i wanted to take the girl homq also and had struck the other young man on the jaw and also damaged his overcoat. Sergeant Cowan said that the accused was employed in. a racing stable and had never been In trouble .V before, but ho did not appear to take the charge very seriously. Accused was convicted and fined £1 10/ and ordered to pay 3/6 for the damage to the overcoat.
