CLOTHING WORKERS.
CLOCK HOURS QUESTION. WAGES FOR COURT. "We are quite prepared to agree to a 40-hour week, worked on five days, but we would like to have the provision for ciock hours omitted," stated Mr. W. E. Anderson, agent for tnc employers, when cutters, pressors and other male clothing factory workers sought a new award in Conciliation Council yesterday before Mr. P. Hallv, Conciliation Commissioner. Decision by the workers on this point was deferred until after the luncheon adjournment, when it was announced that the question of clock hours —the actual spread of the hours over the working days—would have to go to the Arbitration Court. The workers sought the limits of 8 a.m. and 4.45 p.m. The 40-hour five-day week, however, was agreed upon. The major clauses of wages and overtime were referred to the Arbitration Court, but agreement was reached on several subsidiary points.
