CANADIAN LEADER'S VIEW. (Keceiveil 2 p.m.) TORONTO, August 4. Accepting re-election for the fourth term as leader of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation, and leader of that party in the House of Commons, Mr. J. S. Woodsworth declared that the time had arrived for Canada to declare autonomy. The Monroe Doctrine would prevent interference in America of any European or Asiatic Power, consequently there was no necessity for a large army to protect Canada.

"I don't think we could rely 011 Britain to protect us. I acknowledge our great debt to her, but I would not go so far as to say that we owe it to lier to help to protect her."

The Co-operative Commonwealth Federation lias seven seats in the Dominion Parliament.
