OUR DUMMY ORGAN.
I thought that our council had agreed that the organ would be played for half an hour at any community singing and other civil events. Why has the orgaij again lived such a short life ? Is it owing to our heavy rates that "uncle" has had to have a lien on it? I consider, it a disgrace to Auckland and our council that this handsome gift of Sir Henry Brett is treated as it is. If the right pieces are played .the people will attend. I say, "Up, Aueklanders, and do not let us be the laughingstock of other towns." Lately I was asked if that beautiful-looking organ was onlva dummy or an imitation one. I said, "Oh/ no, it's a splendid instrument, but I believe tlie council has it in pawn for money loans and liigli rates raised." It is a standing disgrace to Auckland. BURLTOX BENXET.
