MOTORISTS' FAST DRIVING. | DOMINION ROAD SMASH. | | "Such driving causes abhorrence," remarked Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court this morning, when a young man,. Thomas Stephen ' Sampson,...was charged with dangerous driving and with driving without a license. "The abominable conduct of I motorists, who drive in the manner in which you have been driving, causes accidents," t Mr. Wilson added. | Sub-Inspector Fox said defendant had been traced by an association badge dislodged in an accident. On the night of June 20 a motor car was driven at a high speed along Dominion Road. The speed was estimated by Constable Belcher at 45 miles an hour, fvnd by two men at from s;j to (>0 miles an hour. After crashing into a road excavation, smashing four lamps and pulling out iron standards, the car continued on its way. It was impossible to get the number of the car, but an association badge had fallen off. The badge belonged to a woman who was in the car with defendant driving. Defendant said he was doing 30 miles an hour. The magistrate imposed a fine of £;"> and cancelled defendant's license, which had since been obtained, for a year. For j driving without a license Sampson was fined £1.
