BADMINTON.
CHAMPIONSHIPS IN FORTNIGHT. An Auckland badminton team successfully met a challenge from Waikato for the Wisden Cup at Hamilton last Saturday. Although the final score was Auckland 13 games to Waikato's 3, many of them were closely contested and some interesting play was witnessed by the spectators. A second team which also made the trip was successful by 11 games to o. Inter-club competitions are now drawing to a close and Auckland players are preparing for the Auckland provincial championships, which will be held in the Central wharf sheds on August 19 to 22. In the A grade competition Parnell is certain to be the winner. The B grade matches have been much more closely eontested and three teams—Central undefeated, Ensign and Parnell one loss—are in the running for the season's honours.
