CENTENARY PLANS.

TARANAKI CELEBRATIONS. COUNCIL. ESTABLISHED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Tuesday, j A representative meeting at New [ Plymouth to-day of delegates from all parts of Taranaki considered the province's part in the Dominion Centenary celebrations in 1940, and approved of the formation of a provincial council consisting, of representatives of all the boroughs, counties and independent j town boards in the province, as well as two members of the native race and two Ministers, delegates from the New Plymouth Harbour Board and the Taranaki Education Board, and Messrs. W. G. Skinner and J. Houston, as representatives of the early settlers. This council will control all the celebrations in Taranaki. It was stressed that the celebrations would be of a provincial nature, and not confined to any one district. Four representatives were appointed to attend a Dominion conference at Wellington later in the month. An historical research committee was also appointed. It was decided to recommend to the provincial council that a memorial fund be immediately opened. The establishment of a tuberculosis sanitarium on the mountain was suggested as an appropriate form which such a memorial could take.
