NEEDS COLONIES.
Poland's Claim Sent to League
Of Nations.
OVER-POPULATED LAND,
(Received 11.30 a.m.)
WARSAW, July 31
Contending that it is unable to support its population withini the present frontiers, the Polish Government proposes to bring a- claim for colonies before the League of Nations. A communique from the Polish Foreign Office states that Poland has the greatest natural increase in population in Europe. It is the duty of the League to deal with the problem. Vast territories in South Africa and South America are almost uninhabited and could be given to Poland for colonisation.
It is also suggested that Britain and France could provide capital under the League guarantee. The claim to colonies has been urged for some time, but this is the first official demand. It is believed Italy has promised support.
