THEFT ON STEAMER.
MARRIED MAN'S OFFENCE.

DUNEDIN, this day.
Sentence of one month's imprisonment was imposed to-day on George William Cardno, aged 46, married, with six children, a watersider, for stealing yesterday two dresses from the' steamer Rangitata. Accused admitted the offence, stating that he saw a box in the ship's hold with the band broken and that he opened the box with a hook.
