SHOW DATES ADVANCED,
DECISION AT HAMILTON. (From Our Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Friday. In deference to the wishes of the Manawatu A. and P. Association and with the object of avoiding a clashing of dates, the Waikato A. and P. Association has decided to hold the next show on October 30 and 31 instead of on November 13 and 14. Recently a deputation from the Manawatu body waited on the Waikato Association and urp-ed a change of dates.
Mr. W. H. Miers stated that if the show were lield a week later it would clash with Wanganui and the Royal Show on November 12 and 13. If it were held a week earlier the nearest show would be Carterton, which would not lie affected. There was no reason why the October dates should not be permanent.
Opposition to the suggestion was voiced on the grounds that the earlier date would affect the quality and maturity of stock entered, as well as the entries for baconer pigs.
Mr. H. Finlavson said tlie earlier date would be in the interests of lamb and fat stock exhibitors. Shearing and ensilage making had started by November, he added.
The amendment changing the dates to October was carried by seven votes to five.
