DIAMOND WEDDING.
MR. AND MRS. F. McCORMICK. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WAIHI, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Francis McCormick, of Waihi, celebrated the diamond jubilee of their wedding on Wednesday. Mr. McCormick was married to Miss Ellen Moyna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Moyna, of Glasslough. County Monaglian, Ireland, in St. Patrick's Cathedral, Auckland, on July 31, 1870, by the Rev. Father Walter McDonald. Mr. McCormick is 81 years of age, and Mrs. McCormick 82. Mr. McCormick arrived in Auckland from No wry, County Down, Ireland, with his parents by the ship King of Italy in 1805. His father opened a tailoring business in Parnell, which he carried on for 30 years, and the son, Francis, attended school in Parnell, and later served his time at the bakery trade. After residing in Gisborne for 15 years Mr. and Mrs. McCormick came to Wailii in 1905. Their family comprised 12 children, 15 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. Mr. McCormick is an enthusiastic bowler, was president of the Waihi club for two years and i.? one of its oldest members.
