INCREASE RECORDED.

BUOYANCY IN AUCKLAND

FROM FIVE SOURCES,

All roun:- increases are recorded in Customs duty collected in Auckland for the month of July and for the seven months to date of the present year. The amount received for the month ended yesterday is £100,542 more than in July last year, and for the seven months the increase is £548 159 Customs duty went over the quarter million mark last month, the exact amount being; £200,431, and to date this year the amount is £1,705,580, compared with £1,444,950 for the first seven months of 1035.

Receipts from petrol tax last month were £55,111, an increase of £23:138 and for the seven months £440.8(58. an increase of £127,553. Tyre duty realised £3103 in July, as against £1230. This item showed a decrease of £1093 in June. Collections of tyre dutv for the seven months of this year showed an increase of £357. Sales Tax Increase. Excise on .beer showed an increase of £2328 last month, the total being £12,305. The figure for seven months was £90,039. representing an increase for the peiiod of £15,092.

The regular increase in sales tax collections continues. Last month £09,417 was realised, compared with £54,50!) in July, 1935. The return for seven months was £104.022, against £379,45(i.
