COMBINED EVENING.
Last evening, at Warwick Chambers, Mr. William D. Webber presided over a record attendance of the vocal and instrumental circle of the Society of Musicians. Solo compositions were chosen with titles and subject matter in reference to or suggestive of "Nature." Pianoforte solos, "Hark, Hark, the Lark" (Schubert-Liszt); "Automne" (Chaminade); "Brer Rabbit" and "The German Forest," from suite "Fireside Tales" (Macdowell); "The Rivulet" (Mendelssohn); "Autumn," from "The Seasons" (Cyril Jenkins); "Legend of the Birds" (LiadofF); "Flight of the Bumble Bee" (Rimsky-Korsakoff); duet "First Symphony" (Haydn); duo, Whirlwind" (Melan-Geront); quartets, "Morning" (Grieg); excerpt from "Lohengrin" (Wagner); violin solo, "The i Blue Lagoon" (Millocker). Songs: "The Wind" (Sfross); "Nightingale of June" (Sanderson); "Sing, Joyous Bird" (Montague Phillips); "To Be Sung on the Water" (Schubert); "Song of the Open" (La Forge); "By the Window" (Tschaikowskyj; "The Witching Hour" and "Song of Autumn" (Hahn); "The Little Red Lark" (traditional); "The Linden Tree" (Schubert).
