WOODSTOCK STAKES. CONFUSION IN NAME. When acceptances were declared for the Waipa meeting Alby was not included in the Woodstock Stakes, but the secretary advises this morning that he is an acceptor. A series of misunderstandings led to the omission, says our 'JL'e Awaniutu correspondent. and it was not noticed until after the official race card had been published. It appeal's that Alby was nominated, but in transmission the name came through a s Alloy. The haudicapper weighted Alloy, but when the list of acceptances reached Gisborne, W. Goscomb, trainer of Alby, wired asking what weight his horse had received, adding that he liad already telegraphed accepting for •him. The club officials that Alby had not been nominated, and therefore could not be accepted for. The owner and trainer both contended that their horse had been nominated in the proper way, and it was then found that Alby had been mistaken for Alloy. Steps wera immediately taken to advise all parties concerned, and the handicapper weighted Alby at 7.7. Alby's name does not appear in the official race card, but notices will be posted on the course drawing backers' attention to the fact that he is not m tlie book.
