HAWERA NOTES.
J. FRYER'S TEAM. THREE FOR WAIPA. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAWERA, Wednesday, An interesting reappearance on the Hawera tracks yesterday morning was that of Cynical Kid, who promised so well last season, but unfortunately went wrong. ■ Cynical Kid looks big in condition, but has only to remain sound to attract attention. In company with Passing Fancy he was galloped six furlongs on the outside of the course proper, the pair finishing together ill 1.22%. Cynical Kid galloped freely. Sir Tommy, who failed badly at the Egmont meeting, is still at Hawera and is to race .it Marton. He sprinted four furlongs in 51s, displaying his usual dash. Corowa was given a working gallop and his efforts at Hawera should benefit him. After beginning well, he drifted badly, out made up a lot of ground over the final stages of his races. The Crofton Hack Cup, run over a mile and a quarter, on Saturday next may show him up in a most favourable light. Wotan, who is picking up condition, was given barrier practice, out smartly each time with Passing I ancy, and may form one of J. Fryer's team for the Auckland meeting. Fryer leaves tomorrow for the Waipa meeting with Glenthawn, Supreme Court and Indiscretion. The last-named is engaged in the Hack and Hunters' Steeplechase, and this morning, ridden by R. Webby, gave a capital exhibition over eight of the steeplechase fences. Fryer will return after Waipa to take his team North for the Great Northern meeting. Beau Star has been disposed of and will shortly be dispatched to Hawke's Bay, where he will be under W. Young's care. Soloist, whose early fall in the hurdles at Hawera on the opening day failed to disclose his form, is looking bright and working very satisfactorily and will be Ha.wera's hope in the Great Northern Hiirdles. < S. Anderson will have the mount on Corowa at Marton. I. Howe, who shaped quite satisfactorily in his two opening rides at Hawera, will have a further opportunity on Glenthawn, and R. Webby will ride Indiscretion.
