ELLERSLIE TRIALS.
THIS MORNING'S WORK. REREATU'S GOOD FIVE. A fog before breakfast prevented some of the horses being timed at Ellerslie this morning, but later it cleared and the conditions became ideal. No. 2 glass track was open and the going was good. Landlubber ran an easy seven furlongs, taking 1.43. Zane Grey was sent a round, being assisted over the last six furlongs by Haputale. The full journey occupied 1.52 3-5. Wee Pat, Royal Appellant and Knight of Australia were associated over a round, finishing together, the last six furlongs taking 1.38 2-5. Illumani and Fleetwind were on terms at the end of! live furlongs in 1.3 1-5, which was a good effort for the former. Valspear traversed a similar distance in 1.2 4-5, and did it well. Santoft and Town Beauty were just) in front of Billy Boy at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.23, the last half mile: taking 555. Te Hai ran the last six furlongs of his work in 1.20, and Shy accom-j plished a round in 1.49 3-5. Gascille and King Mestor (who was previously schooled over hurdles) were sent about eleven fur-; longs. They ran the first half-mile in J 565, and the last round in 1.49 1-5, while the final seven furlongs were completed in 1.3G 2-5. Gascille was just a shade in front at the finish. Rereatu (light-weight) ran the last fire of six furlongs in 1.2 2-5. On the tan Valnnnt covered six furlongs in 1.20 3-5. The Jumpers. Teddy Boy (Williams) jumped two hurdles in the centre, shaping well. King Mestor (F. Baker) was sent over four hurdles, giving a good display. Chief Emerald (D. Craddock) did not have much pact; while negotiating six hurdles, which he jumped without mistake, j Ruling King (T. Williams) jumped the' steeplechase fences on the flat, giving a! much better display than on Tuesday. • I
