CONTRACTORS ANXIOUS?
GOVERNMENT'S INTENTIONS.
Anxiety concerning the Government's intentions regarding wages and hours is apparently felt by builders and contractors, according to a report made to the Auckland Education Board this morning by the secretary, Mr. D. W. Dunlop. He said that the contractor for the Richmond school was holding back on the signing of the contract awaiting an announcement by the Government on the position of existing contracts in the event of new industrial conditions.
It was pointed out by a member that indications had been given by the Government that suitable adjustments would be made to contract prices, where these were unfairly affected by Government action in the direction of wages and hours.
