GOOD SALE AT FEILDING. SHEEP PRICES ADVANCE. t (From Our Own Correspondent.) FEfLDING, this day. i A keen sale for all classes of sheep took place at Feilding yesterday, both fat and store sections making better prices. The cattle market was from steady to slow. Values were as under: — Store Cattle. —The sale in this section was not particularly active, although a fair amount of business was done in general farmers' lines. Store cows held firm at good prices, and the select lines of station cattle offering sold well. Fat and forward four-year P:A. steers, £7 15/ to £8 10/; good three-year P.A. steers, £6 15/; forward two-year P.A. steers, £4 17/6; well-grown two-year P.A. heifers, £4 12/6 to £5; good yearling P.A. heifers, £3 17/ to £4 1/6; forward-conditioned P.A. cows and calves, £4 5/; backward- 1 conditioned Shorthorn cows, £2 4/ to £2 14/; forward cows, dairy breeds, £2 10/ to £2 18/; lighter, £2 5/; potter cows, ; £1 to £1 15/; potter bulls, £2 15/ to ; £5 10/. j Fat Cattle. —A dull sale took place in j this section, where only light and unfin- ] ished stock came forward. Butchers : found the market unattractive and prices 1 suffered accordingly. Best Jersey cows, ( £5 2/6; medium weights, £3 17/6 to £4 \ 2/6; unfinished, £2 10/ to £3 3/; medium- , weight Jersey heifers, £4; light, £2 17/6 to £3 10/; small Shorthorn heifers, £5; vealers, £1 15/. Dairy Cattle.—Very few head of dairy , cattle came forward and prices remained j at recent levels. Good springing heifers, t £3 2/6; others, from £2 10/; best spring- o ing cows, to £3 5/; others, from £2 15/; I cows in milk, to £2 8/6. J Fat Sheep.—Although on the light side numerically there was no lack of quality . in the fat sheep yarding, and butchers I showed keen competition for supplies. Ewes made a fairlv substantial rise, but all lines sold at improved rates. Primest heavy ewes, 17/ to 17/6; prime mediums, a 16/?; average, 15/ to 15/6; light, 13/3; r extra good black-faced two-tooths, 23/10; f good black-faced lambs, 21/1 to 22/; Best c heavy lambs, 22/7; well-finished lambs, C 21/; average lines, 19/6 to 19/10; extra C prime finished wethers, 23/ to 24/1; good, > 22/4; inferior, 18/. > Store Sheep.—About 6000 head of store lambs of all sorts came forward, best sorts meeting with a keen demand. Unshorn lines affected with bidi-bidi did not receive c the same attention as clean-woolled lines. Good ewes were steady at late rates. V Attractive shorn white-faced wether lambs, 17/1 to 18/; good sorts, 16/1: small, 15/ to 15/10; best black-faced wether lambs, 19/2 to 10/5; medium sizes, 18/2; average lots, 16/5 to 17/; others, 15/4 to 16/3; ewe lambs, fair lots, 20/ to 20/6; good two-tooth wethers, 20/9; better p lots, 21/2; well-grown line two-tooth ewes, 28/; good five-year ewes, 22/2; aged ewes, to 17/2. . Pigs.—Pigs were in light supply at the mart and prices also showed a downward trend. Best weaners, 8/6 to 11/6; poor, 5/6 to 6/6; slips, to 15/; small stores, 17/; light porkers, £1 3/6.
