AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS. POINTS ON YESTERDAY'S PLAY NATIONAL CHAMPIONS COMPETE. The Auckland Lawn Tennis Association's annual championship . tourney was continued yesterday before an appreciative gallery, hearty applause being accorded the contestants in both singles and doubles events, the latter starting only about mid-afternoon. In the men's senior singles a "seeded"; country representative, R. R. Lees, from! ivla.iata, impressed by Ins performance against one of Auckland's younger hopes, Milne. Both played in*a very 11 ee style from net to backline and the~ match was delightfully open, with Lees leading o 3 at the fifth set. Milne evened at 5 all and at 6 all missed two "sitters,"! which might have altered the result of thei match, Lees going on to win a keen contest B—6.

The appearance of Miss Duleie Nicliolls, of Wellington, New Zealand champion, interest when the second round of the ladies' singles was entered upon and she met a worthy contender 111 Miss Hall. There was a further feast of good play in th.e meeting of Miss M. Maefarlane, of Remuera, and Miss E. Stewart, of Eden and Epsom, the latter countering the courtcraft of her opponent by some superlative backcourt shots and surprise plaeings to the sideline. International E. P. Andrews warmed up to something like his best in the doubles, though a trifle erratic in the face of vigorous net attack.
