SURPRISE PARTY.
A surprise party consisting of the president of the Papakura Women's Institute (Mrs. V. Houghton) and members of the institute's sewing circle paid a visit to the home of one of their members, Mrs. E. C. Johnson, of Great South Road, to make a small presentation of a lovely crepe de chine scarf, to show their appreciation of her kindness in allowing the use of her home for the sewing circle meetings. Thfe presentation was made by Mrs. V. Houghton.
Among those present were:' Mesdames V. Houghton, I. Beams, H. Baulf, A. Donald, W. Croskory, R. H. Clark, Lea, B. Cartwriglit, B. Sloane, Firman and Nicol. The party was subsequently entertained to a dainty afternoon tea by Mrs. Johnson.
