BEST FOR YEARS.

OTAGO WOOL CLIP. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") DUNEDIN, this day. "With wool grown in Otago this season of exceptional quality and described as the "best for years," improved values ruling and promise of increased demand from Bradford and Japan, wool growers of the province are in brighter spirits than they have been for some time. The woolselling season opens on Friday and the maintenance of improved values ruling at recent northern sales is fully anticipated. Further, Otago Central is in wonderful condition, feed being prolific as a consequence of the mild winter and bright spring. For the past two seasons conditions have been ideal for shearing, but owing to the state of the market twelve months ago a large number of farmers held back their wool till later sales. There has been a change of spirit this season and the tendency has been to rush wool to the market with instructions to offer at the first sale. The extent of the advance on prices ruling last season and in line with prices obtained at recent northern sales will probably be from 2d to 4d per lb, according to the quality of wool. Of the total offerings, at least 50 per cent will be of finer clips, the balance being crossbred wools.
