SUCCESSFUL DANCE
FUNCTION AT DEVONPORT. The ladies' committee of the Democrat party, Waitemata, held a successful dance at the Cheltenham tea kiosk on Saturday evening. The hall was gaily decorated with flowers and drapings in purple and gold. Mr. P. Vos, on behalf of the ladies' committee, acted as master of ceremonies. Birtley's band rendered an excellent programme of dance music.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald, on their arrival, were received by Mrs. Graham© Watts, chairman of the ladies' committee, who presented Mrs. Donald with a bouquet. Mrs. Donald was accompanied by her daughter, Miss Jean Carnegie Brown. Mrs. Harold Owers sang two songs and was loudly applauded. Miss McNaught won the Monte Carlo and Mrs. A. Bartley won the spot waltz.
The ladies' committee comprised: Mrs. Grahame Watts (chairman), Mrs. W. McComb- (honorary secretary), Mesdames R. Wynyard, A: Boyne, W. G. Ivil, H. Harper, E. West, P. Vos, O'Brien, Grosse and McNaught.
Among those present were: Mesdames A. Bartley, F. Bartley, N. Beasley, Hanky, H. Morris, C. Chapman, A. Allerd, Dickinson, Cunningham, H. Owers, and Misses J. Carnegie Brown, C. Cunningham, M.
