WAR PENSIONS.
AMENDING LEGISLATION. WIVES APART FROM HUSBANDS. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. ■ ' Special amendments to the War Pen- , sions Amendment Bill and the War Veterans Allowances Bill, which were promised by the Minister in Charge of Pensions, Mr. Cohbe, were brought down by Governor-General's Message in the House of Representatives last evening. The War Pensions Amendment Bill has been amended to provide that every pension granted shall be payable from the first day of the month in which application is received instead of the first "day of the month in which the pension is granted.
A similar amendment has been made to the War Veterans Allowances Bill, also an amendment making provision for an allowance to be granted to the wife of a veteran who is living apart from her husband if the War, Pensions Board is satisfied that she has good cause for doing so.'""
