OVERSEAS MARKETS.

TALLOW, HEMP, EGGS, ETC. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram, dated October 12, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand: — Tallow. —Good demand at auction; 42G casks offered, of which 241 sold at higher prices. Present spot quotations are:— Mutton: Fine, 34/; fair to good, 29/6; dark to dull, 27/6 to 28/6. Beef: Sweet and/or mixed, 37/ to 35/; fair to good, 28/6 to 30/6; dark to dull, 22/6 to 27/6. Mixed: Fair to good, 28/6 to 29/9; dark to dull, 22/6 to 27/6. Gut, etc., 25/6 to 27/. Hemp.—Manila: Not quite so active; prices about steady. "K" grade for October-December and Decern ber-Febru-ary shipments quoted sellers at £27 15/. Sisal: Spot scarce. Afloat sold up to £27 15/. January-March shipment sellers £27 5/. New Zealand: Market unchanged. November-January shipment, fair grade, offered at £21 10/, but no business reported.

Eggs.—Market firmer; supplies smaller; good demand. English, National pack, 15/6 to 18/(3; ordinary pack, 10/ to 17/3; Danish, 12/ to 13/9; Australian, 12% to 161b per long hundred, 11/ to 13/6. Apples:—Arrivals during first week of fortnight very heavy, causing lower prices; slight improvement since. Californian Newtown, 9/ to 9/9; Gravenstein, 5/6 to 7/; Jonathan, 8/0 to 9/; British Columbia, Cox's Orange Pippins, 10/ to 13/. Pears.—Calfornian Bartlett, 11/ to 13/3.

SYDNEY WOOL SALES. SYDNEY, October 14. At the Sydney wool sales to-day 13,158 bales were offered and 12,334 sold. Abo 1584 bales were eold privately. Thole was very strong general competition, chiefly from Yorkshire, Japan and the Continent, and values were fully equal to last week's closing rates. Greasy Merino made to 22% d per lb, which equals the highest price of the season. The average price last week was £15 14/5 a bale, or 12.3d per ib.

[ PIG LEAD TRADE. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 14. Imports for September totalled 20,900 tons, including 11,891 Australian; exports : 2259 tons. DAIRY PRODUCE. Messrs. Joseph Nathan and Company have received the following cable from their London principals, Messrs. Trerigrouse and Nathan, Tooley Street, dated October 14:—Butter: New Zealand, finest, 127/ per cwt; first, 125/. BRADFORD FIRM. (Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 14. The Bradford market is firm, with a moderate amount of new business for delivery in December onwards.
