WOMAN THREATENED.
DALMATIAN CONVICTED. ORDERED TO BE EXAMINED. (By 1 elegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. "There is 110 doubt that this man is a menace, and lie is lucky not to be here on a more serious charge," 'said Detective-Sergeant Thompson at the Hamilton Police Court to-day when Ivan Slakwh, a Dalmatian, appeared on a charge of unlawfully presenting a firearm at a young woman. An application for sureties to keep tile peace was also made on behalf of the woman. Detective-Sergeant Thompson said the woman had been living with Slakicli. After she left Slakicli visited the farm where she was wovMng, presented a rifle and threatened to shoot her. On another occasion lie had produced a knife and threatened to cut her throat. Mr. N. S. Johnson, for Slakicli, said his client was of a highly emotional type. He was a Dalmatian and gaol would only aggravate his hostility' to the ■woman. Tf granted probation Slakicli promised to keep awav from her. Accused was convicted and discharged, but was bound over in one surety of £25 in his own cognisance and "two other sureties of £25, and was ordered to remain in custody till the money had been paid. The magistrate also ordered accused to be mentally examined.
