STOLE GOODS.
MANUREWA DRAPER. VALUE ESTIMATED AT £167. FORMER EMPLOYER'S LOSS. A Mamirewa draper, who pleaded guilty in tlic Police Court to-day to two charges of theft of goods belonging to a city firm where he had been employed for 10 years, was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. He was Stanley Graeie, aged 24, and he was charged 011 August 12 with the theft of four frocks, three dressing gowns and two woollen cardigans, of a total value of £7 7/, the property of Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Ltd. There was a further charge that between August 1 and August 12 he stole goods valued at £160 12/11 belonging to the same firm. Mr. Dyson appeared for Grade. A buyer employed by Macky, Logan, Caldwell, Ltd., stated in evidence that Grade had been in the linn's employ for 10 years, and left 011 August 19 last. A quantity of goods was missed from the warehouse, and as the result of something which came to his knowledge witness went with Detectives Sneddon and Slater to Gracie's. shop in Manurewa. There he identified a quantity of goods' belonging to the firm. Graeie admitted stealing the goods, which he said lie removed from the warehouse durinrr t] le lunch hour. The total value of" the goods recovered was £100 12/11. When Graeie left the employ of the firm lie received an extra week's salary and a presentation. In answer to Mr. Dyson, witness said many of the stolen articles still had the firm's tickets 011 them. Detective Slater produced a statement which Graeie made admitting the offences. Graeie, who was committed for sentence, was allowed bail of £100 as formerly.
