CENTENARY PLANS.
AUCKLAND CELEBRATIONS. CONFERENCE TO BE HELD. With a view to securing general co-operation in the consideration of plans for the adequate commemoration of Auckland's centenary in 1040, a conference of representatives of all interests likely to be concerned in the project is to be held in the City Conn :il Chambers on the evening of Monday. November 11. Advice to this effect is being circulated among various local bodies and other organisations interested in the matter by the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis. In inviting the appointment of delegates to attend the conference, the Mayor points out that the conference will discuss in a preliminary manner the broad lines upon which the organisation of the celebrations should proceed. In accordance with a resolution passed by the council, it is proposed to form a representative committee with the town clcrk of Auckland, Mr. J. S. Brigham, as secretary, and to invest this body with the responsibility of formulating a policy for submission a plenary conference in March next. Mr. Davis feels that his appeal to local bodies, for wholehearted support in the matter will be received sympathetically
