WATERED MILK.
MANGERE FARMER FINED. LOW SOLID CONTENT. Arthur Pilkington, fanner, of Wallace Road, Mangere, pleaded guilty when charged before Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., at the Onehunga Police Court this morning, with selling milk with 10 per cent of added water, also with sellin™ milk containing less than 8 per cent of solids. Senior Inspector B. A. Franklin said he took samples from a shop in Manukau Road 011 August ' • He followed up the supplier to the shop, and found that he had purchased the milk from Pilkington's farm. Witness interviewed defendant 011 August 8, and took a sample of milk, which showed 10 per ccnt of added water, and was low in milk fats.
Pilkington said in defence that he did not put water in the milk, he did not cool the milk, and the cooler did not leak. He had his suspicions as to how the water got into the in ! lk. but he did not tell them to the Court. -
Defendant was fined £4, With 2.V0 costs, on the .first charge, and £1 and 10/ costs on the second offence.
