CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND GUN CLUB. The Auckland Oun Club lipid a play bird shoot on its grounds at Pakuranga 011 Saturday. Good weather prevailed and there was a large attendance. Itesultß : — Five-bird Eye-opener.—E. J. Scliolield (15yds), B. Clinch (18yds), and E. Cox (13yds) divided the sweepstake. Five-bird Gimerack.—C. Hodge (17-21 yds) and K. S. Wells (11-15 yds) shot the possible and divided the sweepstake. Seven-bird Novice Spoon Match.—M. Kew (12yds) shot six birds and was the winner, while E. Cox (14yds) and H. A. Powell (12yds) tied for second place. Ten-bird Trophy Match for Sir. Melsaac's Trophy.—Great interest was taken in this match, which resulted in n win Cor H. A. Powell (11yds), with nine birds. The rttn-ners-up were E. J. Scliolield (10yds) and C. Hodge (18yds). Double-rise Match.—C. Ilodge (ICyds) won outright, while M. Kew (11yds). E. J. Sehofield (14yds) and E. Montcitli (11yds) tied for second place. ■WAIKATO CONTESTS. Members of the Auckland, Metropolitan, Otorohanga, Taumarunui, Morrinsville, Taihape, Huiitly, and Hamilton Gun Clubs took part in a £50 open handicap shoot held at Ruakitra on Saturday. Results : — Eye-opener, seven birds.—W. .T. McMiken (Hamilton). 15yds, F. ,T. Hazard (Auckland), 12yds, A. IJannigan (Auckland), 12yds, .T. Amundsen (Morrinsville), 12yds, ,T. Sharp (Morrinsville), 12yds, A. Aitken (Morrinsville), 12.vds, W. Gribble (Hamilton), 11yds, and G. ISrethcrton (Taumarunui) shot the possible and divided the stake. • £50 Open Handicap. 21 hirds. —W. .T. McMiken (Hamilton). 15yds. (J. TSretlierton (Taumarunui), 15yds. A. Aitken (Morrinsville), 13yds, A. Ilannigan (Auckland"). l?.yds, and Tj. Zinunermart, 13yds, broke 20 hirds at the first shoot. A further round was fired and as all were again equal, they divided the pri?e money. Seven-bird Sweep.—M. Pratt (Otnrolianga), 16yds, Tj. Ramsay (Auckland), Idylls. W. Sharp (Morrinsville), 11yds, R. Harris (Taumarunui), 10yds, ,T. McMullan (Morrinsville), 13yds, shot the possible and divided the stake. The Hamilton Gun Club held a shoot of 10 birds 011 Saturday. W. Gribble (11yds) shot the possible, and R. F. Harris (11yds) and C. Webber (14yds) were second with 1-J breaks.
