VAUXHALL SCHOOL.
FANCY DRESS BALL. The Vauxliall School, Devonport, held its annual fancy dress ball and concert on Saturday evening in the Bayswater Hall. The adults were treated to some very delightful little playlets acted by the primers and by class I. The confidence shown by the small actors and actresses and the clearness of the spoken parts received many favourable comments from the huge audience. The senior boys carricd out a couplc of welltimed drill movements to music. The committee was compelled to organise the grand parade in two portions. The junior was led by Miss Mary McKellar (pink rose) and Master Rodwell Webb (Bagjry Breeches), while the senior was led by Miss Rona Williamson (whisky) and Miss Elizabeth Armstrong (Kate Greenaway). The many movements were executed faultlessly, giving evidence of the patient and exacting coaching by their teachers. The children and parents were provided with a sit-down supper after the parade, the arrangements of which were in the excellent hands of the ladies' committee, consisting of Mesdanies H. 11. Watkins, J. Gray, A. Griffiths, Camplin, Titchcner, Ellis, Stevens, Stephenson, Tilston. During the evening the chairman, Mr. H. If. Watkins, congratulated the winners of the cross-country runs and Mrs. Watkins presented the prizes.
