HOSTESS AFTERNOON.
A ' ~ -toss Afternoon" was given by the Great North Road Methodist Ladies' Guild, in the schoolroom. The room was tastefully decorated with bowls of flowers. The meeting opened with a hearty welcome from Mrs. Beer (president) to all visiting sister guilds and friends. A short address by Rev. Handy (St John's) followed and items were given as follows: Solo, Mrs. Rodwald; elocution, Miss Olphert; solo, Rev. Mitchell (Newmarket); recitation, Rev. Hope-Haynes (Great North Road); solo, Student Norwell. The accompanists were Mesdames Beer and Grant. A competition was won by Mount Eden Mothers' Guild. A fancy goods and produce stall, in aid of funds, presided over by the ladies of the guild, was well patronised.
