INCREASED MEMBERSHIP. SELF-DENIAL OFFERINGS. (I!y Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, this day. At the New Zealand Baptist Union's annual assembly it was stated that the church membership had increased to 88f>8. The number of baptisms for the vear was 394, of whom 94 did not apply for church membership. The union's main source of revenue was the annual self-denial offering, the total received this year being £1724, against £1747 last year. The contributions averaged slightly over 5/ a member of the resident church members. The council expressed its appreciation of the committee's efforts in launching the West Coast extension scheme. The Rev. J. K. Archer (Christchurch) had rendered valuable service in touring tin: North Island and part of the South Island in the interests of the Manurcwa Home. On the motion of the Rev. H. Knowles Kempton, the Rev. D. 11. Stewart, of Tauranga, was received into full ministerial status. The Rev. D. B. Forde Carlisle, of Berhampore, Wellington, was elected to the ministry of the union.
