RECENT APPOINTMENT.
POST AND TELEGRAPH STAFF.
(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON,, Wednesday.
A recent appointment in the Post and Telegraph Department in Auckland was criticised by Mr. W. E. Parry (Labour, Auckland Central), when speaking in the Budget debate in the House of Representatives to-day. Mr. Parry said he understood that a man who -had. not been in the Dominion more than a month had been appointed manager of the Department's motor workshops in Auckland and that he would have control over other Departments. When so many qualified New Zealanders were unable to secure positions he thought that that policy was entirely wrong. It seemed that each year an expeditionary force was sent abroad with no consideration as to cost. Probably as a result of one of those expeditions abroad this man had been imported to take charge of the P. and T. workshops in Auckland.
