LEAGUE REFEREES.

THREAT TO STRIKE.

QUESTION OF PRIVILEGES.

At an outcome of a decision of the New Zealand- Rugby League to restrict referees to double free passes to the ground, the Auckland Referees' Association last evening held a special meeting and adopted a resolution that members would not do duty for any matches unless double passes to the grandstand at Carlaw Park were issued.

This surprising development on the eve of the first Test match and a heavy programme of competition games under the auspices of the Auckland Rugby League, apart from the balance of fixtures to be played in Auckland in connection with the Australian team's tour, was promptly dealt with by the two bodies concerned.

This morning Mr. Cyril Sneddon, president of the New Zealand Rugby League, officially said that although his council had not seen fit to alter its previous decision lie was pleased to be able to state that with the mediation of Mr. G. Grey Campbell, chairman of the Auckland Rugby League Board of Control, under whose jurisdiction the Auckland Referees' Association functions, satisfactory arrangements had been made for to-day ponding the whole matter being reviewed by the Auckland League.
