The first Rugbv League football Test match between the touring Australian team and Now Zealand commenced at Carlaw Turk this afternoon in fine weather and before a very large crowd. The New Zealand team, captained by A. E. Cooke, is considered a very strong one and contains Auckland, West Coast (South Island) and Waikato players. The Australian thirteen contains one change from the side which beat Auckland last Saturday by Ift—B, Goodwin the Balmain (Sydney) wing-three-quarter, replacing W. Mahon, of Queensland. The teams are:— AUSTRALIA. (Green and gold.) Full-back: L. Ward-Three-quarters: S. Goodwin, D. Brown (captain), R. McKinnon, R. Hincs. Five-eighth: E. Norman. Half-back: N. Thicknesse. Forwards: R.
